Google Antigravity gives 10,000 scientists 6 months of its highest usage tier free with Gemini 4 Argon

#Google#Gemini#Free#Subscription deal

Starting October 13, 2026, Google is accepting applications for up to 10,000 selected scientists to use Google Antigravity's highest usage tier and Gemini 4 Argon free for six months. Researchers at universities, non-profit research institutes, and national labs can fill out the interest form. Google reviews applications weekly and only contacts selected applicants.

The briefing

Gemini 4 Argon

Alongside the Gemini 4 Argon launch on October 13, 2026, Google opened a program for researchers. Up to 10,000 selected scientists get six months of Google Antigravity's highest usage tier free of charge, with access to Gemini 4 Argon. Applications are open now, and Google reviews them and onboards new cohorts every week.

What you get

If you're selected, the Google account you used to submit the form is upgraded to Antigravity's highest usage tier for six months at no cost, and you can use Gemini 4 Argon there. Outside this program, individual users need a Google AI Ultra subscription to use Argon in Antigravity.

The upgrade applies to the individual Google Antigravity service under its individual Terms of Service. It does not run through an institutional Gemini Enterprise subscription, and there is no institutional option yet.

What you can use

Antigravity is Google's agent-first development app, available as a desktop app and a CLI, and Gemini 4 Argon works in both. For research, you can install the Science plugin in one click from the in-app Customizations marketplace and connect your agents to more than 30 major life-science databases, including the 1PB AlphaGenome Atlas, UniProt, PubChem, and ChEMBL. You can also add skills, subagents, and hooks to fit the workflow to your field.

Inside your research workspace, you can query Google DeepMind models and databases such as AlphaGenome, the AlphaFold Database, and Atlas directly, for example to generate Sashimi splice-disruption plots or to turn hours of manual structural analysis into minutes. Outputs include publication-ready 3D PyMOL renderings, reproducible analysis scripts, and research artifacts that are grounded in evidence at every step.

Google researchers have already used Argon in Antigravity to speed up xTB, a widely cited open-source quantum chemistry package, making molecular structure prediction up to 2.3x faster and conformer search 1.8x faster.

Who can apply

The program mainly supports non-commercial scientific research. You need an active affiliation with a university, degree-granting institution, non-profit research institute, or national laboratory. The roles on the form cover faculty and lab directors, postdocs, staff scientists, research engineers, PhD students, and master's students, plus PIs and researchers at public or non-profit labs.

Google selects applicants based on scientific credentials and potential research impact. Fields range from life sciences and medicine to chemistry and materials, physics and fusion, quantum computing, earth and climate science, mathematics, computer science and AI, engineering, social sciences, and economics. You don't need to be a heavy AI user to apply.

How to apply

  1. Sign in with the Google account you plan to use for Antigravity, then open the interest form. A personal Gmail account or an institutional Google Workspace account both work, and the upgrade goes to that account if you're selected. If you use an institutional account, make sure it can sign in to Antigravity first.
  2. Enter your institution, your institutional email, and a public page for your lab or group. PIs, faculty, and lab directors should link a page that confirms their position.
  3. Add a valid ORCID iD or Google Scholar profile. At least one is required for your application to be considered.
  4. Describe the research you plan to do over the next 6 to 12 months and how Antigravity would help, in 3 to 4 sentences and at least 300 characters. Keep it at the level of a public grant abstract and leave out anything confidential.
  5. Watch your inbox. Google reviews applications weekly and only contacts selected applicants.

Good to know

Once you're using Antigravity, you control your data preferences and can turn off data collection at any time in Antigravity Settings.

If you mostly use Argon through the API, see Gemini 4 Argon API at half price. If your lab wants team seats, the Claude Team plan for scientists is also taking applications.
