The briefing
Perch AI is a general-purpose agent app you can use on the web, on desktop, or from the command line, all under one account. Pick the free Starter plan after you sign up and you get 20,000 PT of hosted model usage every month. One PT is $0.001, so that works out to $20 a month, and you don't need a card.
What you get
- Starter includes 20,000 PT a month, reset each calendar month in UTC.
- The free lineup includes Laguna S 2.1, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash, plus Qwen 3.8 Max until noon Eastern on November 20, 2026. The free lineup rotates over time.
- Every call to these models comes out of your monthly 20,000 PT. Once it's gone, you wait for next month's reset.
- For the November 7–8 weekend, Starter's 5-hour and weekly limits are almost doubled.
- The allowance works inside Perch Web, Desktop and the CLI only; there's no direct API access. You can also plug in your own OpenAI-compatible API key, and that usage doesn't touch the free allowance.
- The Starter Data Program is on by default and may turn de-identified usage into AI training data. You can switch it off under Settings → Privacy.
How to use it
- Sign up at Perch AI Web and choose the free Starter plan.
- For work on local folders, install the desktop app or run
npm install -g perchai-clifor the CLI, then sign in with the same account. - Check what's left under Settings → Usage, or type
/usagein the CLI.
