ChatGPT Plus: some web subscribers may get one free month when cancelling

#ChatGPT#Plus#Free#Subscription deal

Some ChatGPT Plus subscribers who start cancellation on the web may see a 100% off offer for the next billing cycle. Reports are mainly from PayPal or direct-card billing; App Store and Google Play subscriptions may not show it. It is account-targeted, so only the offer shown on your cancellation page counts.

The briefing

Some ChatGPT Plus subscribers have seen a retention offer when they start cancelling on the web: the next billing cycle is shown as 100% off, which amounts to one more free month.

Eligibility and limits

  • Who can check: Existing ChatGPT Plus subscribers who pay on the web with PayPal or a direct card.
  • Value: One next billing cycle at 100% off; the source screenshot shows Plus at $20/month.
  • Reported exclusions: Apple App Store and Google Play billing generally do not show this web cancellation offer.
  • Targeted rollout: This is not available to every account. Treat it as valid only when the cancellation flow explicitly shows the free month or 100% off.
  • Expiry: No public universal end date has been announced.

How to check

  1. Open ChatGPT and go to Settings → Subscription / Billing → Manage.
  2. Start Cancel plan and look for a free-month or 100% off retention offer before confirming.
  3. If it appears, accept it and verify the next billing cycle in Billing.
  4. If you do not want to continue after the free period, cancel at least 24 hours before the next renewal as described in OpenAI's promotion guidance.

The offer will not appear for every account, and opening the cancellation flow does not automatically cancel your plan. Related testing: linux.do.
