Kiro's First Pro Month Is Free, Plus 500 Bonus Credits
From November 1, the first time a Kiro Free user upgrades to Pro, the rest of that month is free, and you also get 500 trial credits that last 12 months. Upgrade early on the 1st to get a whole month of 1,000 plan credits at no cost.

The briefing
Starting November 1, Kiro is changing how its free trial works. If you're on Kiro Free and upgrade to Pro ($20/month with 1,000 plan credits) for the first time, the rest of that month is free, and your first bill arrives on the 1st of the following month. You also get 500 extra trial credits.
What you get
Plan fees and plan credits are both prorated to the second. Upgrade to Pro at 00:00 UTC on November 15 and there are 16 days left, so you get about 533 plan credits for $0, plus 500 trial credits, for roughly 1,033 credits in total.
Trial credits kick in after your plan credits run out, and they stay valid for 12 months instead of resetting at the end of the month. If you drop back to the free tier, unused trial credits carry over, though on Free you can only spend them on free-tier models.
To get a whole month free, upgrade as early as you can after 00:00 UTC on November 1. That gives you the full 1,000 plan credits at no cost, about 1,500 credits including the trial bonus.
Bigger plans work too
You can start on Pro+, Pro Max, or Power instead. The free Pro month still counts, so you only pay the difference between your plan's prorated price and the prorated Pro price. Upgrading to Pro+ at 00:00 UTC on November 15 costs about $10.67 and gives you about 1,567 credits, including the 500 trial credits.
Free month or the $20 discount
If you upgrade before November 1, you still get the old $20 discount and keep any unused credits. From November 1 the new trial replaces it. Both only apply to your first upgrade; later upgrades are just prorated with no free month. If you haven't upgraded yet, waiting until November 1 gets you 500 more credits.
How to claim
- Sign in to your free Kiro account and choose Pro or a bigger plan on the subscription page.
- Add a card, confirm the amount at checkout, and your credits show up right away.
- Kiro charges the full plan price from the 1st of next month. Cancel on the subscription page before then if you only want the trial.
