Get Kiro Pro+ for about $0 in your first month with the $20 new-user credit

#Kiro#Claude

Your first paid Kiro upgrade comes with a $20 credit, and plans are prorated by the days left in the month. Start the $40 Pro+ plan in the second half of the month and the first month is about $0 before tax, with users reporting around 2,000 credits. Your card may see a temporary $20 hold, and remember to cancel before the 1st.

The briefing

The first time you upgrade to a paid Kiro plan, you get a $20 credit toward your subscription. Kiro bills every plan on the 1st of each month, and if you start mid-month you only pay for the days left. Put those two rules together and the later in the month you sign up, the less your first month costs. Start Pro+ in the second half of the month and it can come out to about $0 until the month ends.

What you get

Kiro Pro+ lists at $40 a month and gives you premium models such as Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, and GPT-5.6 in Kiro IDE, Kiro CLI, and Kiro Web. Users on linux.do report about 2,000 credits after upgrading to Pro+.

The $20 credit only applies to your first paid upgrade, and you need to sign in with a social login or AWS Builder ID. Enterprise accounts using AWS Identity Center don't qualify.

What it costs

The fewer days left in the month, the less Pro+ costs for that month. With half the month left, the prorated fee is about $20, which the $20 credit cancels out. One user who upgraded on October 16 saw $0 before tax at checkout. The same math works for other tiers. Users estimate Pro Max comes close to $0 with about 6 days left, and Power with about 3 days left.

Kiro's prices don't include tax. Tax is calculated from your billing address, and some regions charge none while others add a dollar or two, so your actual cost will vary.

Users report a hold of around $20 on their card at checkout. Keep that much on the card, since a zero-balance card may be declined.

How to sign up

  1. Sign in to Kiro with a social login or AWS Builder ID and choose Pro+ on the subscription page.
  2. Add a credit card, check the amount at checkout, and pay. Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay all work.
  3. Your credits arrive right away and last until the end of the month.

On the 1st of next month Kiro charges the full $40 for Pro+. If you only want this one month, cancel renewal on the subscription page after paying so you aren't charged on the 1st.
