OpenAI GPT-6 Sol and Luna: permanently half-price API rates plus banked resets

OpenAI has added GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to the GPT-6 family, with lower API prices and additional subscription usage support.

• Products: ChatGPT Work, Codex, and the OpenAI API. The model IDs are gpt-6-sol and gpt-6-luna.
• API rates: Relative to the comparable GPT-5.6 tier, Sol is listed at about $2 input / $10 output per million tokens, and Luna at about $0.10 input / $0.50 output per million tokens.
• Subscription access: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu accounts can use Sol and Luna in Work and Codex; Free and Go desktop access may start with Luna. Regular Chat access may differ.
• Banked reset: OpenAI's Codex lead said Plus, Pro, and Business accounts would receive one banked usage reset that can be saved and used later. Individual accounts may see it at different times.

How to check

1. Review the official GPT-6 Sol and Luna announcement and the API model page.
2. In ChatGPT Work or Codex, select GPT-6 Sol or Luna when your account shows them.
3. For the API, use gpt-6-sol or gpt-6-luna.
4. Open account usage or Settings → Usage to see whether a banked reset is available.

There is no separate public expiry date for the reset. Model access, prices, and rollout can change; use the official pages and your account display as the current source.
