The briefing
Kiro has brought back its startup credits program. Early-stage to Series A teams can apply for up to one year of Kiro Pro+ and build with spec mode and AI agents without worrying about the bill.
What you get
- Up to one year of Kiro Pro+ credits, deposited straight into your AWS account once approved.
- Three tiers by team size. Starter covers up to 2 users, Growth up to 10, and Scale up to 30. The credit amount depends on the tier you pick.
- Credits are issued to the company, so authorized users in the same company can share them.
- Credits activate as soon as they are provisioned and expire one year later. They can't be deferred, transferred or refunded.
Who can apply
- Early-stage to Series A startups. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- You need a business email that matches your company website domain, and an AWS account registered with that same email. First-time AWS users can create an account first.
- Applicants must be 18 or older, and each startup can receive credits once.
- Startups currently on AWS Activate credits are not eligible, though Activate credits can already be spent on Kiro. If you get Kiro credits first, you can still apply for AWS Activate later.
- Individuals living in China/GCR, Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Cuba, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Mexico, North Korea, Poland, Russia, Spain, Syria, the UAE, Crimea, DNR or LNR can't take part.
How to apply
- Sign in with your AWS account on the Kiro startup credits application, pick a tier and submit your company details.
- The decision goes to the email on your AWS account. Approved credits are added to that account automatically.
- Set up IAM Identity Center in your AWS account and sign in to Kiro through it to use the credits. Credits don't work with AWS Builder ID, GitHub or Google sign-in.
After the credits are used up or expire, the account switches to standard Kiro Pro+ billing. Applications close on December 31, 2026.
